Candle Care 101 for Every Candle Connoisseur

Welcome to our guide on Candle Care 101 - the ultimate guide to keeping your candles looking and smelling great for longer. Candles are a simple pleasure that can add a touch of warmth and ambiance to any room. But, like most things in life, they require a little bit of care to ensure they last as long as possible.

Here are our top tips for taking care of your candles:

    • The first burn of your candle is the most important. Make sure to burn it for at least two hours, or until the wax has melted to the edges of the container. This will help prevent tunneling and ensure an even burn throughout the life of the candle.
    • With a wick trimmer, trim the wick to ¼” before lighting it every time. This simple step can make all the difference in the longevity and clean burning of your candle. It will also help keep your space smelling wonderful without any unwanted soot.
    • Keep your candles away from drafts, as this can cause uneven burning and decrease the lifespan of the candle.
    • Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects (furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.).
    • Avoid excessive burn time, no more than 4 hours is recommended.
    • Keep out of reach of pets and children.
    • Don't burn the candle all the way down. For safety measures, stop burning the candle when there is 1/2" of wax left in the vessel.
    • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. This will help prevent the wick from smoking and keep the wax looking clean.
    • Store your candles in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. This will help prevent the wax from melting and the scent from fading.

By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your candles remain beautiful, fragrant, and safe to use. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the soothing ambiance of your candle. And don’t forget to reuse your containers! Read our FAQs for some ways to reuse them!
